What is it prescribed for?
- Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia is a condition that causes enlargement of the prostate gland (a small gland in men that secretes fluid to nourish and transport the sperm). As the prostate surrounds the urethra (a tube that carries urine out of your body), an increase in the size of the prostate may lead to symptoms such as difficulty in urination, weak urinary stream, frequent urination, loss of bladder control, etc. This medicine at a dose of 2.5mg and 5mg is used in the treatment of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia.
Male pattern baldness, also called androgenic alopecia, is the most common type of hair loss in men. It is characterised by gradual thinning of the hair on the topmost part of the head. This medicine at a dose of 1mg is used in the treatment of hereditary hair loss in men.
How Finpecia 1 mg tablet works
Tablet is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor. It blocks the body’s production of a male hormone in the scalp that stops hair growth, thereby reversing the balding process and preventing further hair loss.
