How Flucort N Cream works
Flucort-N Cream is a combination of two medicines: Fluocinolone acetonide and Neomycin which treat skin infections.
Flucort N Cream acetonide is a steroid which blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen and itchy. Neomycin is an antibiotic. It stops bacterial growth by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions.
Flucort-N cream contains fluocinolone, a potent synthetic corticosteroid that has similar anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and immune modifying properties to naturally occurring corticosteroids. Fluocinolone in Flucort-N cream is absorbed through the skin into inflammatory cells and blocks the production of inflammatory chemicals, like prostaglandins and leukotrienes, which stimulates inflammation.
Fluocinolone in Flucort-N cream also narrows and constricts causes blood vessels that have become dilated (widened) and leaky allowing other inflammatory cells into the skin to escalate the inflammatory response. These combined actions reduce swelling, redness, itching and other symptoms associated with inflammation of the skin. Fluocinolone in Flucort-N also helps to modify the actions of immune cells involved in the allergic skin disorders that cause inflammation.
